He Loves Me

Ana Blackwell

I am madly in love.
I am seen and heard,
I am appreciated and valued like I’ve never been before.

He does not tear me down in his anger.
He fills my soul with joy;
He even shows me grace when I don’t deserve it.
Oh what a lover I have found.

He calls me, but today I’m too busy to answer.
That’s alright, He loves me,
He understands.

He prepares a dinner for me but I don’t want His bread right now.
I think I’d rather drink another’s wine.
Yes, I will quench my thirst and maybe if I’m hungry after, then we can dine.
That’s alright, He loves me,
He understands.

Today he saw my eyes wander.
That’s alright, he loves me; he understands.
After all, I am only human,
How can I not wonder?

Today he wants to spend time together.
How sweet, but doesn’t he know I already made plans?
He says he wants me to take some time,
To pause and let him love on me today.
Doesn’t he know I have too many responsibilities filling my time?
So I say, “maybe tomorrow if that’s fine”.
Oh how he loves and understands me.
He is good to me.
He forgives even when I break my promises.
Today I found pleasure in another’s arms.
That’s alright, He loves me,
He understands.
He forgives me even when I break my vows.
Oh the grace he has for me.
He deserves to be loved,
But today I am too busy carrying out my own plans.
Too busy seeking pleasures outside of him.
I want to eat and drink my fill until I am satisfied.
Maybe someday I’ll love him but today is not that day.

Oh yes I am madly in love,
With him though? No way.
I only love myself but that’s alright,
He loves me, he understands.
And if not, that’s all right because I love me,
So I pretend he’s fine and he understands
