Holy Trinity (Car Sermon #2)

By Kyle Blackwell

My Jesus is power.

My Jesus has the ability to transform lives.

My Jesus ain’t no sissified Jesus like the one most American churches worship.

My Jesus came into Jerusalem riding on a donkey. But Revelation chapter 19 says He’s coming back on a white horse. Yes, He was the suffering servant. Yes, He was the lamb being led to slaughter, but He is now Glorified in Heaven as the Lion of Judah

My Jesus will make you want to get out those four walls, that we call a church, and proclaim His Holy name without reserve.

My Jesus diminishes strongholds.

He is the source of all my strength.

My Jesus came bringing peace upon us all, but in Revelation He is the judge with the tongue that is a double-edged sword.

He is the Alpha and the Omega. The Beginning and the End, Prince of Peace, and Lord of lords.

And let me tell you something about this God I serve. He is not like the god of Hollywood who is an old grandfather above the clouds, with an angel upon his shoulder playing a harp.

My God is the God of love, but He is also the God who judges. My God is all knowing. My God is all Powerful. My God is all seeing, multiple places, at multiple times. My God sustains. My God is also jealous for me. He desires all of me.

Don’t think for one minute I’m going to leave out Holy Spirit. He gives me a peace that transcends all understanding. My Spirit leads me into all truth. My Spirit is the most powerful being, and force, on the planet. Without Holy Spirit, I would not have come to an understanding of my sin’s weightiness, which led to my salvation in Christ Jesus.

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. -! Corinthians 2:14

Because of Holy Spirit, I was able to understand the depravity of my past, wretched life. I used to think Hitler was bad, but I’m not a bad person. I thought about Ted Bundy. He was an evil man, but not me. Before Holy Spirit cultivated my heart, I knew what sin was, but I didn’t think I was that bad. I didn’t smoke, drink, party, or do drugs. Hey, I didn’t steal, kill or hate. But then Holy Spirit brought me to Sermon on the Mount in the book of Matthew. And before long, I realized that the word began to manifest in my heart.

Now, we get to the Bible. Oh, this Holy book is a book of wonders. This book is so amazing that I can no longer read it, but it reads me. Every time I open this book I put on the mind of Christ. In this book, we see a compilation of over 40 different authors, with occupations ranging from kings to fishermen and tax collectors, written on 3 different continents, in 3 different languages, with 1 centralized focus from Genesis chapter 1 to Revelation chapter 22, and that focus is Christ. I can’t even get my family to agree on what to eat tonight. Any time you get that many people to agree on one thing, it is an act of God. No other book in the world is like this Holy Word.

This Bible, which is my Main Authority, will transform you. And all you gotta do is open the cover. The problem is, we don’t have enough Bible readers in this world. And preachers are afraid to talk about the importance of reading the Bible. Maybe they are afraid they will start to lose members. Why? God spoke about the importance of studying the scriptures. He said in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. Moses wrote this:

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. -Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Uh oh! We just ran into another issue. This passage states we should talk about scriptures to others. But I may lose my job...? We have too many weenies in church these days. We gotta proclaim the bands of Jesus without reserve, without fear.
I am sick and tired of these spineless, jelly belly, butter cup, soft skinned christians. What did Jesus say? He said to Go! And make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19).

Are you afraid of losing your job for speaking the name of Jesus? Just wait for the rapture, when the anti-christ will require all who work and trade goods to swear allegiance to him; otherwise, you will not be permitted to work. If you cannot preach Jesus now when the mark of the beast is not required, how will you proclaim His name when the mark is required? I can guarantee you that if you lose your job saying the name of Jesus, God will provide.

What did Jesus say regarding this matter?

“For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.” -Luke 9:26

I know I got some people riled up now. I don’t care. The truth needs to be told. And I’m tired of Christian’s playing games. You can fool man, but you cannot fool the Almighty. Man sees flesh, but Jesus reads our hearts.

…I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works. -Revelation 2:23

My Jesus is a BIG God. Wait, did I just call Him God? While I did speak of each member within the Holy Trinity as separate entities, I feel as though it is necessary that I bring them all back together, in order to prove they are all the same, even though they are separate. Turn to the book of John and we will find a very interesting set of statements our Lord Jesus exclaimed that proves the Trinity.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. – John 14:26

Jesus states here that Holy Spirit will be given by the Father, in Jesus’ name. Listen up!

“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.” John 15:26

So, now Jesus is giving us the Spirit through the Father.

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. -John 16:7

Again, Jesus is the one who sends Holy Spirit, only now, Jesus does not state He will send Holy Spirit through the Father, but that He will send the Spirit. How is this possible? In John 14, Jesus states the Father will send Holy Spirit, but in chapters 15 and 16, the Son will send the Father’s Spirit. The only explanation is that Jesus and His Father are the same, but separate. Of course, this blows our mind, and it is hard to understand, but again, we serve a BIG God.

One more thing, and I am done. Now that we know Jesus is God, we must tie Him back to the Bible. Since it is Easter time, I find this very important. Without the Old Testament, we do not have the New Testament. Most people say the Old Testament is about judgement. Wrong! The same beauty in the NT is also found in the OT. Read Hosea and you will see the OT God is the same merciful God of the NT. Moreover, the OT includes all the prophecies. that are fulfilled within the NT. All these prophecies are about one. man, Jesus.

This Holy Bible is comprised of 65 books that place Jesus before the throne, and they are wonderful books indeed. Then we get to the 66th book, and it is called the book of Revelation, and we find that Jesus Christ is no longer before the throne, but He is now seated on the throne, at the right hand of His Father. Most readers believe Revelation is all about the apocalypse, and it is, but if that is all you get out of this book, you are reading it in a very selfish way. Revelation starts by saying: The revelation of Jesus Christ… -Revelation 1:1A The last book of the canon reveals our Lord, the one in whom will see every knee bowed before Him, in all His Glory, where He is portrayed in a more beautiful way than any other place in scripture.

My Jesus is Power!

-My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge -Hosea 4:6
