Main Authority

When my wife and I created Reborn Identity, we had one main goal, bring to light the truths that many pulpits are afraid to talk about. The beauty in this website is that we do not have to worry about anyone controlling the content in our articles, which means that we have a bold foot to stand on when presenting the Gospel. That bold footing comes from the Gospel of Peace mentioned in Ephesians chapter 6, knowing that no matter what, God has our back even when it seems unpleasant to others. Therefore, I can stand firm with a peace that transcends all understanding.
By relying on Holy Spirit to guide me, I am able to understand things in this Holy Book that I never would have understood by my own power. But the only way to do this is by reading the Word with much prayer. John 3:34 says, “God gives the Spirit without limit”. This is talking about Jesus, and how He was filled with the Spirit. However, we can also apply this to our own lives. Picture a glass of pure water. The water is clear. Now, take a bottle of red food coloring, pour in a drop of red dye. The water is no longer clear, but there is a hint of color. Next, pour in a few more drops and it’s as red as Hawaiian Punch. Go ahead and release the rest of the dye into the glass and watch it turn red as the Blood of Jesus. God will fill us with as much as we desire Him.
Come near to God and he will come near to you… -James 4:8
How can we expect to know Him if we do not read His love letter? Far too often, Christians open their Bibles on Sundays for 35 minutes, then put it on their dashboards until the next Sunday. The Bible was meant for direction in our lives.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness -2 Timothy 3:16
These are not just a bunch of ancient writings. The Holy Scriptures are just as applicable today as they were thousands of years ago. Just because you may not like what the Bible has to say, does not mean that it is no longer useful due to today’s standard of corrupt morality. God said do not murder, yet abortion is alive and well, no matter what the supreme courts say. God said that marriage is for one man, and one woman, but homosexual marriage is prevalent. Jesus said that you should not commit adultery, but pornography brings more income in America than the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL combined. Oh, and affairs within marriages are higher than ever as well.
At the bottom of every article signed with my name is a scripture. That verse is Hosea 4:6, which states, “My people are destroyed for their lack of knowledge”. You see, the devil does not care about our ignorance. Quite frankly, neither does God, which is why Deuteronomy chapter 6 makes it very clear that we are to both know the scripture and teach it to our children. And by the way, this means that we are to teach scriptures, not rely on a church to do the leg work in educating our little ones.
I was reading the book of Haggai, which is only 38 verses in length, and the author indicates on 25 separate occasions that the words spoken are direct from the Lord. Interestingly enough, when I flipped to the next page and started reading Zechariah, it did not take long for me to figure out that his words were also from the Lord God Almighty. As a matter of fact, I only had to start reading the first verse of the book of Zechariah to see this, “The word of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah”. Nowadays, and I am guilty of this as well, we say, “my pastor said this”, or “my pastor said that”. By no means am I stating we should not give authority to what a pastor says, but we need to be careful and test the spirit by the Spirit. There are too many false prophets who have been sent by satan that lead people astray.
On the contrary, there are a lot of pastors who speak truth, and people despise them for it. My wife saw a post on the book of faces that spoke of a girl being upset with her pastor. Apparently, this man had the audacity to tell this young woman that she was living in sin. The girl was living with her fiancé. Here, you have a man who is willing to stand firm in what the Word says. The comments on this lady’s post told the girl to find a church that teaches what she believes. In other words, forget the Word of God, and go worship lucifer.
After my ex-wife told me she was leaving me for someone else, I completely surrendered my life to Jesus. I turned away from sin and began to hate my wicked desires and fleshly nature. I was praying earnestly for God to save my marriage. When I realized that there was no hope, I started arguing with God. I told Him that throughout His Word, He states that He hates divorce. And I argued that I will never be able to remarry after divorce. He showed me Matthew 5:32:
But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
I was dumbfounded. So, I did what any smart person would do. I told God to show me another place where it says that it is ok for me to remarry. Just two days later, He revealed to me Matthew 19:9:
I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery. -Matthew 19:9
If I would have rejected God’s Word as my main authority, I would have never married Ana. She is such a blessing from God. I could have listened to satan, but I chose to listen to God. I would have missed out on so many blessings in life. Another important thing to remember is that I had a close relationship with God. Because of everything I went through in my initial steps as a man of God, I had a very powerful prayer life. It is because of the turmoil that I was brought out of that I possess the faith I have now.
Romans 14:23 states, “everything that does not come from faith is sin”. Do you do the things you do because of what your parents said in the past? Is it because of what a pastor, or friend told you? Or do you live a life based on the main authority, the Holy Bible?
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge -Hosea 4:6
